Fiji

The nation of Fiji is a grouping of 322 islands that is located in the South Pacific. Fiji is a Christian nation but it is only 3 generations away from being a cannibalistic nation. Eventhough they are known for being a Christian nation close to 50% of kids are sexually abused in the families as they grow up.
Ministry Points in FIJI

Family Ministry, Orphanages, Prison Ministry,Open air proclamation, Tribal Ministry(potential of staying with a tribe for awhile ministering to them), Relational Ministry

These are some of the people from the YWAM base in Nadi, Fiji. Nadi is the town that the International airport for Fiji is in and this is the base that we will most likely be starting at.

The two major Religions there are Christianity and Hinduism. Also the two major people groups are the Indians and the Fijians. There is major conflict between the Indians and the Fijians.

We leave England on January 1st and January 3rd for Fiji. There are 2 different teams because we were only able to get half the team on one plane. Outreach is supposed to start on December 17th but we could only find cheap tickets on January 1st and 3rd so we are still looking for options for the first 2 weeks. We are looking at going somewhere in Europe for the first 2 weeks, that includes northern England. We will most likely be working with a YWAM base during those weeks, coming along side a ministry that is being pioneered.

Missionary Impossible

The Boys of the Sept 2010 DTS(Students)

The first half of the girls of Sept 2010(Students)

2nd half of the girls of Sept 2010 DTS(Students)

So we had a training activity where the students were put into teams and then they did team building activities(Need A Friend for those of you that know). Then we gave them a ride into the nearest town which is Crawley and we gave them a series of tasks that they had to accomplish. Keep in mind that these people are not from england and so most of these activities are a challenge. One of the challenges included buying lunch for your team with only 2 pounds which is like 3 dollars.

DTS Staff outing

So we took a special trip as a staff to a place called Beachy Head. It looks very similar to the white cliffs of Dover, and we went there just with the DTS staff so for a little Staff adventure. Our next staff adventure will probably be to Oxford to the "Eagle and Child" pub where C.S. Lewis and Tolkien would talk about theology and drink a pint. So stay tuned for new adventures.

God's Calling

So I spent 6 months with a missions organization called Youth With a Mission and these are photos from that time. Youth With a Mission or YWAM runs a school called a Discipleship Training School or DTS and in this school you spend 3 months training and then 3 months in a foreign country doing missions.

People who are anywhere from 18 to 30 usually do a DTS. However the reason I love YWAM is that it gives kids who just graduate High School direction and shows them Gods call on their life. In a society where most of our kids that graduate our youth groups will lose their faith in College, I think that our kids need direction and vision most of all.

People that come out of a DTS are fired up for God and want to follow his call on their life. This is the reason I like YWAM and this is why I am going back to join the staff at the YWAM base that is Holmsted Manor.

My flight for England leaves on Sept. 4. If you want to know more about what Im doing let me know. I am sending out letters letting people know what I need and what Im doing.
